Many Vaccines Work Faster Than You Think
Hepatitis A — A single dose provides protection within 2–4 weeks. Even if your trip is in 10 days, you'll have meaningful protection before departure.
Typhoid (Injectable) — Effective within 7 days. If you're traveling to South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, or Latin America, there's still time.
Yellow Fever — Effective within 10 days. Since many African and South American countries require proof of vaccination, this is one you can't skip — and thankfully, it works quickly.
Meningococcal — Effective within 7–10 days. Required for Hajj pilgrims.
Dukoral (Cholera/TD) — The oral vaccine series can be completed in as little as 1 week (2 doses, 1 week apart).
What About Multi-Dose Vaccines?
Some vaccines like Hepatitis B (3 doses) and Rabies (2–3 doses) ideally need 4–8 weeks. But here's the key: even a partial series provides more protection than no vaccination at all. We can start the series now and you can complete it when you return.
Antimalarials Can Start Immediately
Malarone only needs to be started 1–2 days before entering a malaria zone. Doxycycline also starts 1–2 days before. Even if you're leaving tomorrow, we can prescribe antimalarials today.
Don't Let "Too Late" Become "Not at All"
The biggest mistake last-minute travelers make is doing nothing because they think it's too late for vaccines. Some protection is always better than none. A partial vaccination, antimalarial pills, and expert travel health advice can dramatically reduce your risk.
