Prescription Medications — Varenicline (Champix) and Bupropion (Zyban) are clinically proven to double your chances of quitting. Our pharmacists can prescribe these directly — no doctor appointment needed.

Ongoing Support — We schedule regular check-ins to monitor progress, adjust your plan, and keep you on track. Most patients see us 4–6 times over 12 weeks.

Can a pharmacist really prescribe smoking cessation medications?
Yes. In Alberta, pharmacists with Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) can assess, prescribe, and manage smoking cessation therapy — including Varenicline (Champix) and Bupropion (Zyban). Both of our pharmacists hold APA certification.
How much does it cost?
The pharmacist consultation is free. Medication costs depend on your insurance coverage — many Alberta employer plans and Alberta Blue Cross cover smoking cessation prescriptions. We'll check your coverage during your first visit and give you a clear breakdown before you commit to anything.
What happens at the first consultation?
We review your smoking history, previous quit attempts, current health conditions, and any medications you take. Then we build a personalized quit plan together — choosing the right combination of NRT, prescription medication, and follow-up schedule. The whole first visit takes about 20–30 minutes.
I've tried quitting before and failed. Will this be different?
Most successful quitters have tried multiple times before it sticks. The difference with pharmacy-supported cessation is ongoing accountability — we see you regularly, adjust your treatment if something isn't working, and keep you motivated through the hardest weeks. You're not doing it alone this time.
Do I need a doctor referral?
No. You can walk into our pharmacy and start the process directly with our pharmacist. No referral, no waitlist. If we identify anything that needs physician involvement, we coordinate with the doctors at Imagine Health Centres — same building, same team.
How long does the program take?
A typical smoking cessation plan runs 12 weeks, with check-ins every 1–2 weeks. Some patients need longer support — especially for Varenicline, which can be extended to 24 weeks for better long-term results. We go at your pace.
